| zSeries Server Update
|
|
| IBM recently announced the eServer zSeries Model 890 along with new
functions for the z990. z/VM Version 5.1 requires a 64-bit capable
server, and the z890 and z990 offer the most advanced technologies
available for z/VM V5.1 exploitation. The z890 provides lower
entry capacity for a z/Architecture-capable server than previously
available. This session will highlight the z890 product and the

| Sharing Kernel and Application Materials on Linux for zSeries
|
|
| As sites continue to implement and maintain many more
Linux for zSeries servers they begin to wonder how they can better streamline
the maintenance of their many images. William Scully, Senior Systems
Programmer for Computer Associates, presents a surprisingly simple technique
for sharing the object code for both the kernel and applications running
under Linux for zSeries. Using this technique may prove useful in reducing
the human costs in rolling out service to large numbers of Linux servers
running on the mainframe.
